The 70s and 80s saw the rise of the computer age and how this age revolutionised industries in developed nations. Software programming changed the way and manner humans executed assignments whether private or official thereby making life easy as things were done more efficiently with minimal supervision and guidance and marginal human error.
In the 90s, the internet literally shrunk the globe and made connectivity between continents, on different levels, faster and easier. The internet brought about a whole new world that had infinite possibilities and became the catalyst for wealth creation for individuals and startups that were quick to adopt and adapt to the World Wide Web.
These innovations are termed "disruptive" because they radically have transformed the way goods and services, education, health care etc where shared traditionally thereby impacting productivity, efficiency and profitability of businesses.
Now the world is inching its way into the 5th Industrial Revolution that would be even more disruptive ,totally driven by Artificial Intelligence and the Internet Of Things (IOT). Another development, the Blockchain, is set to transform the way important data and business transactions will be shared online and NOW is as good a time for Nigerian businesses especially the organized private sector, to key in and participate in this global phenomenon while it is still evolving.
Blockchain was originally a platform for sharing or trading cryptocurrency or virtual money online, but is now expanding its potentials to involve anything else that has to do with sharing other assets within a transparent, decentralised and secure system of ledgers.
