The much anticipated 2019 Nigerian Presidential elections have come and gone but not without its fair share of irregularities that drew so much condemnation from many observers and voters alike. These irregularities perceived by the parties are finding recourse in electoral tribunals but beg the question: Do we really understand the concept of DEMOCRACY?
The ancient Greeks gave the modern world a lot that we currently practice with very little modifications. For instance Philosophy is much the same now as it was then .
What about the concept called "Democracy"...?
The ancient philosopher called Socrates flawed this very contemporary civic responsibility then and is practiced now in many parts of the world. We see in this video in the link I share, that this very demonstration of our civic franchise, is flawed because it often than not is carried out without proper education of the voters. This probably underpins the sort of lackluster leadership obtainable in the majority of African countries and the voters apathy.
This flaw in the practice of democracy that often results in unfit or questionable leadership is what Socrates called "Demogorgory"
Educating the voters properly is the only panacea to this flaw - from childhood to adulthood
